Web Site Development
Bounding Line Web Development provides end-to-end design, development, and hosting of web sites with a focus on usability and value.
Whether you are creating an online storefront, an online brochure, or an intranet we do the groundwork needed to ensure that your site provides value to your organization and appeals to your customers, clients, or users.
Our sites are:
- Tested in the top eight web browsers, ensuring that every visitor has a great experience
- Standards-compliant
- Easily readable by Google and other search engines
- Accessible to the visually and hearing impaired. Need to comply with the federal Section 508 accessibility standards? We can help.
There are also some things that we don’t do:
- Use technology for technology’s sake
- Make things just because they might be cool.
Do we do Flash? AJAX? Database driven sites? Most definitely. We’ll talk your ear off about these technologies if you really want us to. But we know that this technology is valueless if your web site doesn’t contribute to the bottom line or advance your organization’s mission.
Making that happen is our mission.
Web Application Development
Your web site needs to do more than stand there and look pretty. The best web sites are dynamic: they do things. Web applications make this happen.
Need to track data? Take orders? Register customers? Schedule people or resources? Web applications can do just about anything you could do on your desktop from anywhere you can connect to the web.
Most of our web sites have some form of web application behind them, allowing our clients to make updates to news feeds, calendars, and storefronts without any intervention from Bounding Line. Easy updating helps you keep your site up to date—and increases the credibility of your site in the eyes of your customers.
E-Learning Content Development
The web provides a powerful environment for education and training. Our background in education and in the creation of simulations and learning objects can help you make the most of it.
Simulations allow learner to learn by doing. Instead of reading about it, they do: making the sale, operating equipment, managing a process.
A learning object is a small, reusable, online microlesson. They are frequently built to standards such as SCORM or IMS. Having reusable packages of instruction allows you to meet training needs quickly. Determine your training need, then create customized training by stringing a sequence of pre-made learning objects together.
Bounding Line can create educationally sound simulations and SCORM and IMS learning objects that meet your training needs.
Usability Studies
Just how good is your site? Can users find what they want? Why are people visiting but not buying anything? Usability studies can give you the answers.
A typical usability study observes representative users as they use your web site. This is the acid test for a web site: a usable but ugly site is worth a heck of a lot more than a pretty but unusable one. (Our goal is utility and beauty, of course. They’re not as distant as you might think.)
Even with a small sample (five users is generally enough for useful results) we can get an objective outlook on what’s works and what doesn’t—and what we need to do to improve.
Your site doesn’t need to be managed by Bounding Line to benefit from a usability study. We can provide a third party perspective on sites developed by others, then help you make the improvements or hand off our recommendations for implementation by your own staff.
